Should i get speakers for my iMac?

I am going to get an iMac 21.5" sometime soon and am wondering if i should get external speakers or not because i am probably going to be listening to music/watching movies and i am thinking that the mac's speakers might reverberate off my desk and sound weird. And is there anything else i should get with it?
